NEW five week league for Freshmen and/or JV basketball teams will run June 11- July 9. Both men's and women's divisions are planned. All five games will be played at the BFR facility on Monday evenings (6, 7 or 8 PM games). League Flier Registration Form. Space is limited, contact Eric Fletcher, Sport Coordinator, as soon as possible.
A basketball league is held each winter at BFR for individual youth players looking for play experience and skill development. Youth in grades 5 and 6 are welcome to register for our recreational league of boys and girls divisions. All games and practices are held in Bluffton. Player assessments will be made in order to balance the teams. The teams consist of mixed ages and abilities; this is a learning league. Volunteer parent coaches will assist with teaching skills and strategies of basketball. Cost: $45 per player ($30 BFR members)
Thirty community-based teams will join together for the BFR Basketball Classic to played at the Bluffton Family Recreation Center, plus Bluffton Middle School and High School gyms. Team fee includes a guarantee of 4 games with certified referees (1 per court). The BFR Classic is a "B" tournament for teams of 5th grade and 6th grade boys from school districts. The festival style tournament encourages skill development and team play rather than "winning no matter what." No AAU teams are included, just community based recreation teams. Space is limited to 15 teams for each grade. The festival-style of this event does not include place winners; all players will receive a souvenir for participation. The BFR Classic is a fundraising event to maintain and improve the facility. An admission charge is required by spectators. Concessions are available at the BFR and High School buildings. The third annual BFR Girl's Festival will feature 20 community-based teams (no AAU teams, please) in round-robin play. The festival style of this event does not include any place winners, all players will receive a souvenir prize for participation. Divisions will be available for teams of 5th and 6th grades. All games were played in the BFR gyms. A guarantee of 4 games is included with certified refs (1 per court). The BFR Girls Festival is a fundraising event to maintain and improve the facility. An admission charge is required by spectators. Concessions are available. Thank you for your support of this event and all the talented players.
